Merry Christmas 2011

An Impression of the Cocking Christmas Tree

The web site, and its extensive staff, wish its readers from Cocking and further afield, a really special Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2011 has been difficult for many and its last few days may bring more surprises, but let's hope that 2012 will be a great year, not just an Olympic one.

For the record, the picture is an impression of the lovely tree that is currently lighting up the green by the children's playground.

Site Upgrade

This website, Cocking.org, is undergoing a major software upgrade at the moment to improve security and maintainability.  The new version went live just before 9 p.m. on Sunday 6th November, but as there are many tasks to complete it is not yet fully functional and there will be some pages that won't read as well as they usually do.

We will try to get the everything finished as soon as possible and hope that you will see some improvements.  In the meantime, we ask for your patience.

Thank you.

Webmaster.

Cocking.org is on the map

This website is not yet three years old, but it already has quite an impressive web presence.

For example, cocking.org is has climbed the search engine rankings to become the first-listed result when searching Google, Yahoo, A9 , Live and Alta Vista using the single word 'cocking' although for some reason it is still in second place on MSN .  Now the Cocking entry on much-used Wikipedia , the web encyclopaedia, lists cocking.org as a primary external link.

Last, but not least, for some time Cocking has had an entry on the Geograph site that maps every one kilometre square of the country with local photographs.

A surprising number of surfers from around the world land on cocking.org and sites such as the above are part of the reason for that.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year

As 2008 draws to a close, we wish all web site readers, whether from Cocking or further afield,  a very Happy Christmas 2008 and a Prosperous 2009.

Short of holiday reading?  If so, you might like to have a look at the fresh crop of Cocking Parish Council papers that have been uploaded to their page on this site - click here.
