Cocking Community Computers Launched

IT instructor Steve Redshaw is seen here helping a group of students to understand how to make the most of the Internet. The venue is Moonlight Cottage Tea Rooms in Cocking where villagers can take advantage of what the technology can offer and pick up some new techniques.
Created by Cocking Parish Council with funding provided through Action in Rural Sussex (AiRS), the centre has five new lap-top computers. A series of training sessions has been arranged at each of which ten students (two to each computer) will be learning the intricacies of e-mail, online shopping, booking tickets and searching the Internet.
As well as catering for locals who have computers, but need more training, residents of Cocking and neighbouring parishes are welcome to attend the Centre to use a computer whenever the Tea Room is open; there is no charge. The Centre may be on the move later in the year to the new Cocking Village Hall. Currently under construction, building should be completed at the end of the summer.

Parish Meeting 2010

Perhaps for the last time, if plans for the new Village Hall come to fruition, the Cocking Parish Meeting was held in Cocking Church this evening. Over 30 villagers attended the meeting which included a talk by Mr Robin Crane who spoke about the new South Downs National Park for which he has campaigned for many years.
The Parish Meeting was also the last for Gwen Miles in her position as Parish Council Clerk. It was revealed that Gwen has served the Parish council under a total of 8 chairmen and women since 1987.
