Sussex Police are warning the residents of rural villages in West Sussex that people have been called on by fraudsters claiming to be collecting on behalf of the 'local vicar'.
If you see this man, Dial 101 and give the Police as detailed a description as you can.
You have been warned.
West Lavington Walk
- Published on Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:09

The Parish Walk on Saturday 21 January 2012 attracted ten participants: nine of them appear in the photograph, the tenth being the photographer himself.
The party met at Midhurst bus station, to which most of them had travelled from Cocking by bus, and they headed first for the Cowdray ruins where they turned towards Easebourne before making a clockwise circular tour outside the boundaries of Cowdray House. A short stretch took them across the A 272 and along the edge of the golf course before re-crossing the road and following lanes by Moor Farm, South Ambersham, Great Todham Farm and West Lavington from where a footpath in open country took them suddenly to the Wharf, enabling most of the group to catch the return bus after just two hours of steady walking.
The photograph was taken near the southern gateway to Cowdray House by Peter O'Neill.
Merry Christmas 2011
- Published on Tuesday, 20 December 2011 17:41

The web site, and its extensive staff, wish its readers from Cocking and further afield, a really special Christmas and a happy New Year.
2011 has been difficult for many and its last few days may bring more surprises, but let's hope that 2012 will be a great year, not just an Olympic one.
For the record, the picture is an impression of the lovely tree that is currently lighting up the green by the children's playground.
Parish Walk scales Levin Down
- Published on Tuesday, 22 November 2011 19:55

Eight Cocking villagers joined in a short but enjoyable walk during the afternoon of Saturday 19 November 2011.
This comprised a walk from Singleton up the slopes of Levin Down, returning by a circular route enabling the participants to return, as they had come, by bus to Cocking. The weather was perfect: calm, cloudless, and very mild for the season. A distant glimpse was obtained of the small flock of Herdwick sheep – rarely seen in Sussex – which the Sussex Wildlife Trust has introduced temporarily to graze the vegetation of its Levin Down reserve.
The photograph shows those who took part, excepting the photographer, Peter O’Neill. From left to right are Phil Kingswell, Toni Smith, Jeff Mableson, Sheelagh Hanrahan, Diana Zeuner, Naomi Barnett and Sheena Wooldridge.
Site Upgrade
- Published on Sunday, 06 November 2011 22:08
This website, Cocking.org, is undergoing a major software upgrade at the moment to improve security and maintainability. The new version went live just before 9 p.m. on Sunday 6th November, but as there are many tasks to complete it is not yet fully functional and there will be some pages that won't read as well as they usually do.
We will try to get the everything finished as soon as possible and hope that you will see some improvements. In the meantime, we ask for your patience.
Thank you.
Webmaster.
